Gerald "Jerry" Mandeson passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Jackson at the age of 76 years. He was born March 15, 1933 to Edward and Sadie (Roth) Mandeson in Los Angeles, California. Jerry was raised in Los Angeles, graduated from high school and received his Associate of Arts degree in Chemical Engineering. It was during his college years that he met the beautiful Joan Hart. They were married June 26, 1953 in Englewood, CA. Jerry worked in the Aerospace Industry for 37 years in Production Control, receiving recognition as part of the team that built parts for the first space shuttle flight. In 1984 he went into business with his daughter, Julia, owning and operating Jerry's Marine Fuel Service at Newport Harbor, until retirement in 1990, when the family moved to Amador County. Jerry stayed very busy during his retirement years he was on the Planning Commission for Amador County for 2 years, member of Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor #31, Foothill Conservancy group and loved traveling with Joan throughout the United States and Mexico.

Jerry is survived by his children, Andrew Mandeson of Jackson, Julia Mandeson and husband, Michael Datema of Sutter Creek. He was preceded by his wife of 56 years, Joan in September of 2009 and brother Robert Mandeson.
