Merta passed away peacefully on September 26, 2009 in Los Osos CA. Born November 20, 1914, in Maricopa AZ. Merta made an early arrival while her mother, Selma Kinn traveled by train to Los Angeles. She lived in Bodie CA, Aurora and Goldfield NV and Jackson CA.
Merta worked at Kress's 5 & 10 and the Rex Cafe. There she met John (Jack) Gibb from Kirkcaldy, Scotland. They married in Los Angeles in 1936. The couple had two children Debbie and a son-stillborn. They lived in Glendale CA for more than 40 years. John passed in 1983. Merta was a homemaker and worked as a "substitute" mother, doing extended baby-sitting for several dear families.
Merta is survived by her sister, Frances Melusky of Jackson CA, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Lee Oliver of Los Osos CA, and grandchildren Jason and Rebecca. Private internment in the family plot at Jackson City Cemetery.
