Norman H. Allen passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento at the age of 66 years. He was born January 3, 1944 to David and Ruby (Lowery) Allen in Lee Creek, Arkansas. When Norman was 13 years old his family moved to Sacramento. He soon found work at a ranch and was employed there for several years. Norman met his future wife, Callie, through his sister, Jane. He and Callie were inseparable from that point on and were married in Sacramento in May 1963. The couple moved to Amador County in 1980. Norman had been driving truck for 18 years when he retired in 1987. Callie considered Norman to be her hero and a rock. He loved having his family around him at all times. Norman believed family should stay together and work together. He taught his children to care for each other and work together. Friends were considered family also and were looked out for too. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Callie Allen of Ione; daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Ken Cunningham; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Kelley Allen, Michael and Renee Allen all of Ione; sisters, Shirley Glavich of Fiddletown, Jane Sarno of Sacramento; brothers, Jimmy Allen of Sacramento, Roy Allen of Utah; grandchildren, Antoinette, David, Soleo, Shylin, Makiha, Vanessa, Michael, Jr., Michelle, Alexandera, Minnie; and great-granddaughter, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanette Allen on January 9, 2006. At the family's request there will be no services. Inurnment will be private.
